War Poet.ca - A CFAP Project by Suzanne Steele

the forbidden zone (upon reading Mary Borden)

do not speak woman,
you left cosy, asked too much,
pack, zip, track, slip, pack,
into air, infrared reading light,
Herc high, bruised blue peaks, villages
squared, sawed, lives, truncate,
you brought us here, you, you,
brought us, now we anticipate your death,
you are wedded to your frag vest, ballistics,
imagining trajectory of dying breath,
forbidden zone, forbidden,
you, you, you, asked too much.
