War Poet.ca - A CFAP Project by Suzanne Steele

little corner of England (5)

in England’s green and summer rain
hawthorne hedgerows, barley’s hescoes,
lavender wands are bayonets, the honeybees
retreat, I retreat beneath a bower green and wet,
the sound of rain drops on leaves like canvas on Ex,
I walk a Roman road, left right left.
