War Poet.ca - A CFAP Project by Suzanne Steele

lazarus (30)

tonight gaudete I sing you,
I sing our footsteps, two by two
I sing the chickadees, the scratched snow
I sing a kiss by the steaming Saskatchewan River
I sing the long road to war that lead you to me, me to you,
I sing a row of white tea lights set in sand
I sing work-a-day brown lunch bags
I sing one for you, one for you, one for you, one for you,
I sing o Solstice, o light, o light that peaks this dark night
I sing returning returning returning you
from chaos, from your confusion
I sing my God, I sing God help me,
step by step, I sing you.
